Fabricadabra can be used to protect interior upholstery (to make it more resistant to spills and easier to keep clean) or the fabric\/canvas of a convertible roof.<\/p>\n
It gives best results when applied in multiple layers, using a brush or roller, rather than lightly spraying. This is because the fabric and upholstery can be microscopically very uneven, with lots of protruding fibers, pores and air traps. It is better suited for suede materials and dark Alcantara fabrics than solvent-based impregnations, which can whiten the fabric through stronger chemical action.<\/p>\n
For seats\/interior upholstery, make sure the surface is as clean as possible. Apply Fabricadabra as a spray (not as effective, risk of splashing onto other surfaces) or with a brush\/roller (recommended method). If applying using the saturation technique, apply it to the entire panel, down to stitch lines, creases or other natural creases in the material. This helps prevent streaks from forming. Leave to dry and then repeat the process. More layers generally mean more water resistance.<\/p>\n
For convertible soft tops, make sure the canvas\/fabric is clean. All you need is a low-foaming shampoo or APC (All Purpose Cleaner) for cleaning upholstery or Fiber Reviver. Apply to dry fabric for maximum performance, or apply product to a wet surface for better coverage. Leave to dry and then repeat the process. More layers mean more water resistance. After application, the material should remain dry for 24 hours.<\/p>\n
The durability of the coating depends on many factors, mainly the number of layers and use. The driver's seat will be used more than, for example, the rear seat. If the surface is well prepared and multiple saturation coats are applied, you can expect 3-12 months of protection on interior upholstery and 3-6 months of protection on soft tops (or much longer on garaged cars).<\/p>\n
